Transition period

Hi everyone,

I have been reflecting on my life and all the changes this year. I'm currently going thru a transitional period. I moved twice this year and the last move will be in six months. God has me in training mode. Praying everyday for direction and moving along as I pray for God to continue to open doors and inspire me to do great things.

Recap of this year that is about to end. Started out the year moving after my gallery show at Center City Gallery. Finished some commission work, and taking on some more. Got to travel to Ohio for an all Women Exhibition. Traveled to California and fell madly in love with it and met so many beautiful people, that are now like family to me. Went to Washington, DC, and Atlanta for business. Currently working on going to Rome if God permits. I plan to travel even more in 2012 Well, God willing that is.

There is much for me to do and finish. I have 2 pieces of artwork that are not finished and my website will be completely revamped. I will be moving to California in six months and it will be huge change for me and my kids. Yes, I have two teenagers going to college at the same time. They will both be going to college in California. Very big transition but we are all looking forward to it. I have little time to get things in order here in New Jersey. Whew!

At this time I have been teaching art classes Monday - Saturday. In between that trying to manage a business and my own art career. Wow, its been a fun, challenging, and crazy year. I am working on an exhibition for May, 2012 at CCG. Currently applying for International exhibitions. I'm praying for God to continue to open doors in my life. He has been so good to me!

The coming year will be a great year. Full of lots of new works, lots of traveling which I will blog about, and new experiences in the art world.

Yesterday I spent the day taking pictures of my newest pieces. Not an easy task! It was rather frustrating actually lol, but I did it!!! I took pictures of some pieces and Im posting them up. The last ones were from my phone. I know they were bad, but I had a show and did not have a chance to take pictures of them. Im still working on my current piece and will be posting some pictures of the progress later this week. Hope everyone is staying inspired and productive!!!

Ok, peak at whats going on so far with this piece. Its evolving LOL. I have changed the background, its coming more alive than I thought I would originally have it, but its going in its own direction. The background still has alot to go but here is a sneak peak at whats going on so far. :)

Ok, Im terrible at keeping on my blog, juggling painting and everyday mundain things has been, well...... difficult. But, just want to keep on top of things and give you insight on the new things I've been doing and working on.

I started this painting about 3 weeks ago, and im stepping out of the box so to speak and bringing in more symbolism and trying new things. Its scary!!!! But fun!!! This piece is about messages in our everyday life that help us find ourselves and what were meant to do. Of course I used an angel as the deliverer but regardless, there are little things that lead you a little bit at a time revealing more and more of your destiny to you.

It still has alot more to go but I have been working on it daily and will show you the progression as I go along. As for the background I still want to fade the angel a little more, and mute the colors in the background. I feel that they are too ardent and over power the figure in the foreground. But, we shall see how this painting goes, and what changes I will make. :)

New Painting Idea I've Been Trying to put together. "Wisdom"

I did a photo shoot last night, and was playing with the pictures today. Did a couple of compositions but I really liked this one the most, so Im posting it up. Let me know what you think. I love symbolism and need to paint things with meaning. This painting will be titled "Wisdom". The girl is sitting on a suspended metal circle while trying to grab a white feather. The white feather has alot of meaning but what caught my attention the most is that one of them is wisdom. A feather floating in the air may show your desire to ascend to higher spiritual knowledge or intellectual ambition. The lightness of a feather also implies light heartedness and enjoying the good things in life. They also represent spiritual authority and wisdom. Im still playing with it, and it might change as i go along, you will see the final product before I start painting it, or when the sketch is done. This painting will be 30x40 on canvas, maybe larger, still thinking about that.

I've been working on sketches for some new ideas using circles with the figure. Today I have a model coming and will be working on some poses etc. Hope to post the pictures up. I want to paint larger so this series will be in oils :).

New Compositions

Working on several projects. First of all, working on a head study in oils! Im having alot of fun with it. Im also working on some new compositions on some ideas that I have for some paintings that I want to do. I want to start playing with circles and more movements in my paintings so we shall see!

I will be heading down to Center City Galleries to pick up my painting :(. The show is over, but it was a wonderful experience. Saturday I will be at the galleries in Paterson, from 11-1 teaching. Anyone interested can just show up and join in. I expect to spend more time there working on my own work, larger pieces Im thinkin of realizing. Lots and lots of things going on , Im excited!

New piece/ Busy

Wow, been so busy multitasking. I like to take some time and study my favorite artist when going into a new painting for inspiration. I love looking at the works of Bougearou, Mucha, Waterhouse, and Frida. Then I like to start looking at color palettes, textures, just to change it up a bit. I start thinking about textures and what story do I want to tell with this painting.

Working on some sketches for a new painting. I want to start playing with textures more in the background, maybe do some mixed media. We shall see. I have a model coming next week so Im really excited. Besides that working on another drawing should be posting it up soon.

I spent so much time running around yesterday, I didnt get a chance to post whats been going on. Finally got the glass for the frames. Had to buy some things for the show. Whew very exhausting.

Im so happy I finished another painting. Now, I havent had a chance to take a good picture of it yet, so here are the pics that I took with my camera phone LOL. I know terrible, it doesnt do it justice. But, the good pictures should be up by the weekend.

I titled this painting "Sentient II". The composition focuses mainly on the head, the headwrap was so much fun to do. The series Im currently working on has alot of gold in it. I think it brings warmth to the painting. (thats just me).

I posed for the drawing of Angel, LOL Im no angel. But, needed a model didnt want to wait. Again the picture does not do this piece justice. I need to get them photographed asap! But, you get the idea of what I've done. So many people are asking me about my new pieces, and here are the previews.

Im working on a new drawing 18x24 on canson paper. I have to frame a few pieces for the show on Saturday. So much to do so little time. Almost done with a new painting, has alot of texture which I love :). Will post a picture of it up shortly.
